Nashville area (+/- 50 miles)

OK...change of plans. I posted earlier this week that we were traveling north on I65 from Pensacola and stopping over in the Bowling Green KY area. However. We won't be able to pull out of here until later in the day and I'm estimating a stopping point around Nashville.
We are looking for easy on/off....basically a place to plug in and get AC, a necessity for a good night's sleep.
Any suggestions?

Overnight near Bowling Green KY

We will be heading north via I65 from Florida. We are looking for a quick overnight location near the interstate. If it wasn't 90+ degrees, Cracker Barrel would do, but the AC is needed to keep the boss happy! :B
Any suggestions?

RE: I-65 Closed south of Indy?

We made it to the Gulf without a problem. The trip through Indiana became real interesting in the Columbus area. Those poor people. We usually stop at MM 68 but that area, including many establishments are under three feet or more of water. Further south about ten miles, two rivers within a mile of each other made for some impressive currents. I heard a dam broke loose.

RE: I-65 Closed south of Indy?

Yes, many roads in Indiana have been out due to high water. The road you mention is in the middle of an area hit hard with flooding. You may want to add in extra time just in case you have a detour.
The Indiana Department of Transportation and Indiana State Police sites didn't seem to have much, if any, information about which roads were affected and if they are open or not.
One of the sites did say to check with television and radio.
Here are a couple of television channel websites here in central Indiana who has road news on it. http://www.wishtv.com/ and http://www.wthr.com/ and talk radio station with local and state news at 93.1 FM WIBC http://www.wibc.com/. Hopefully these will be faster loading on your computer than they are on mine. I don't know if Mapquest or another route mapping site would have current information, might be worth a check :@.
Have a safe journey.
This is why I love this forum! Thanks, Corgihauler!!

I-65 Closed south of Indy?

We're head south tomorrow and heard a snippet on the news that I-65 near Franklin was closed, as is 31.
Anybody from that area have any updated info?

RE: Cracker Barrel Overnight

I'll be able to answer this question better in a week. I've already called the CB in Cullman, AL about staying overnight on our way to Pensacola. The manager was very polite and accomodating, saying that he opens every morning and there are generally 3-4 RVs every morning. We'll have to open slides. Is that acceptable?

I hope it is not for a weekend. They are booked solid on the weekends, long in advance. You can check out all Indiana's availabilities at www.camp.in.gov

RE: Cedar Creek Silverback 36L5S Question

No problem. I have the beast in the driveway, so it was right there for the measuring. She is nice and clean after her bath today!

RE: Fantastic bedroom fan, yes or no ???

We opted for the second fan. I thought it was going to be in the bunk house but it ended up in our bedroom. It is very nice.....and a bit noise. I don't mind the background noise but my wife doesn't care for it. It is nice to know that we can set the temperature and if it gets too hot, it automatically opens to cool it down.
My advice is to add to the rig.

RE: Cedar Creek Silverback 36L5S Question

I have the identical unit, only the four slider. ;)
The dump is located on the off door side (driver's side) at the following dimentions:
12 ft: distance from landing gear to dump
5 ft: distance from dump to in between the tires
19 ft: distance from dump to back bumper
20 ft: distance from king pin to dump
Enjoy your new rig. Its a great unit. We're very happy with ours.

Trip'n that little 15 amp fuse

We've been out four times in the Silverback. It is a normal event to trip the breaker when the following is on: TV, ceramic heater, coffee maker.
I had the dealer check everything out in February when it was in for warranty work. He said everything was fine; I would have to adjust what we use.
This brings up several points/questions:
1. Do you find it easy to trip a breaker? If so, how have you adjusted?
2. I find it frustrating that I can't do the normal "morning" thing and stay warm, watch TV, and enjoy a warm cup of coffee without tripping the breaker.
3. Should I be complaining more to Cedar Creek as opposed to the dealer? Would I have been better off getting the 50 amp service?

RE: Cedar Creek 35L4QB

$344800 is the lowest I've seen
here
Yep....went to the above website, checked the option equipment we ordered for our and it came to $37,650. We payed $38,000 from the local dealer after using 8 dealers in negotiations with each other. I was satisfied with the price then, and even more so now.
By the way, it is a great unit. My one complaint (regret) is to up the service to 50 regardless of getting the second AC. We pop the breaker with minimal things in use.

RE: Shipshewana Indiana

Ditto on Twin Mills. We will be there over Memorial Day. The KOA isn't worth writing home about and the Shipshewana North CG is a grassy field without much shade. It depends on what you like. Eby Pines is just average as well.

RE: Ohio Route 80 EZ on/off campground for one night stopover

Ohio has very nice rest areas with RV parking. I believe the cost is $5 for electricity. I see 2-3 every time I travel that road.

RE: Lookie what DH got me for my birthday!!

We only have the 4 slide version of this trailer. :R
As you can see, the Dually is the vehicle of choice and does a very nice job. I wouldn't want to pull it with a 3/4 ton and SRW.
Get ready...it is fun to have and a bear to pull. All eyes will be on you when you enter and leave the CG! :B

Help the new guy out. What works best for cleaning the gel-coat? What about the wax? Snow covered but getting into the low 50s in Chicago. I'm getting anxious!

RE: U.P. (Upper Peninsula, MI) suggestions

The Taq.Falls State Park is a very nice, and fairly new, campground. It is located 10 minutes from the falls (cool experience awaits you at the lower falls), Sault St. Marie is 1.5 hours away, and Mackinac is 40 minutes away.
Click here for pictures of this area.
